About the Event
Wassand Hall is a fine Grade II* Regency House, next to Hornsea Mere. It has been in the ownership of descendants of the Constable family for the last 700 years. The present house was built in 1815 to replace an earlier one on the site. It was restored 1947-8 by Francis Johnson, who demolished part of the service wings and unsightly Victorian additions. The Hall possesses a fine selection of 18th & 19th century paintings, English and Continental silver, furniture and paintings. After our tour we will have tea and cake in the beautifully planted Walled Garden, which should be full of flowering roses at the time of our visit.
Meet at Memorial Gardens, York at 12 noon.
Cost: £42 to include coach hire, tour and tea.
To book, please click 'RSVP' and follow the instructions on People's Fundraising.
